Fans of the relaxed yet sophisticated style of Tommy Bahama: You can now sport your casual button-downs, chino shorts and floral sundresses at a new property celebrating the brand’s ethos.
Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort & Spa opened Nov. 1 in Indian Wells in California’s Coachella Valley. The reimagined property, set against the Santa Rosa Mountains and situated on 11 acres of citrus groves, olive trees and flower gardens, has 215 guestrooms and villa suites designed with a tropical vibe. Playful elements throughout include signature pops of green and grapefruit pink, floral and palm patterns, contemporary furniture, hanging lanterns, fire pits and bocce courts.
Accommodations are located in two-story bungalows; many come with private patios or balconies overlooking the mountains or gardens. Interiors tout green palm wallpaper, rattan and tropical wood furniture, ceiling fans and Tommy Bahama and LAFCO amenities. Guests who upgrade to one of the five villa suites with semi-private patios will find them entirely outfitted with Tommy Bahama furniture, décor, wallpaper and bedding; the 1,078-square-foot Grand Marlin Suite is the largest and most luxe, with custom pieces from the Tommy Bahama Palm Desert Collection, living and dining areas, a wet bar, spa-like bathroom and a guest bathroom.
There are three saltwater swimming pools, including the Tommy Bahama Pool, with grapefruit pink lounge chairs and umbrellas and private cabanas. The new poolside bar concept Chiki Palm serves up small bites like beer-battered halibut tacos with fire-roasted salsa, fig and prosciutto flatbread and an ahi poke bowl. Playful cocktails include an icy twist on a Hawai’ian Mai Tai and the Island Empress made with Empress Gin, Giffard Lichi-Li Liqueur, lychee syrup and lemon.
Grapefruit Basil is the resort’s signature dining concept, named for the brand’s beloved cocktail, serving brunch and dinner daily. The white, green and yellow interior, complete with live Meyer lemon trees, is an homage to citrus trees scattered around the property. Highlights of the coastal-inspired menu include Dungeness crab cakes with green papaya slaw, bluefin tuna with pistachio and za’atar crust and slow-cooked Angus short ribs with Anson Mills polenta and fig caponata. The namesake cocktail combines Grey Goose Vodka with fresh basil and ruby red grapefruit, while the Pine for More shakes Tommy Bahama Rum #2 with Giffard Caribbean Pineapple Liqueur, grilled pineapple and orgeat.
If the resort’s relaxed aesthetics aren’t enough to instill a sense of calm, a few hours at the 12,000-square-foot Spa Rosa should do the trick. Eleven treatment rooms can accommodate indoor or outdoor services designed to be holistic and inspired by the surrounding desert. Treatments include the Precious Gemstone Facial, which uses microcrystal exfoliation and a gemstone mask; the Sunstone Massage, during which warm basalt stones are placed to melt tension and relieve stress; and the Nutrient Mud Body Mask, which also includes dry brushing. Larger groups can rent out the spa for private retreats or activities like yoga on the lawn or a sound bath session with a local shaman.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
