It should come as no surprise that aloe, the Caribbean cure for sunburn, is one of Aruba’s main exports. Founded in 1890, the Aruba Aloe Museum, Factory and Store is the oldest operating company on Aruba, using aloe in everything from face and body lotion to sunscreen and shampoo. A short tour of the factory takes you through the aloe cutting room, testing lab, filling room and packing and storage areas. Stock up on sunscreen and other soothing supplies at the store.
You can even get a taste of aloe in one of the Aruba Marriott’s signature aloe cocktails. Better yet, head to the Aruba Marriott’s spa and reserve the Aloe and Milk Bath Wrap: a traditional Balinese recipe combining aloe with coconut, mung bean and lavender to polish the skin. Oh, yeah!
