Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways partnered with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to be Tokyo 2020 official partners in the passenger air transport services.
“Ever since the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964, JAL has supported Japan’s national teams — who continuously inspire us in the global sports arena such as the Olympic and Paralympic games, by providing safe and comfortable air transportation,” said Yoshiharu Ueki, representative director and president, JAL. “As an Official Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we will use our experience to the maximum to support them and promote the advancement of sports through activities to develop and provide backup to young athletes.”
As part of their contracts, the two airlines will promote the events and support Japan’s Olympic and Paralympic teams by providing air transport services. Both carriers will also conduct various programmes aimed at promoting sport using Olympic and Paralympic emblems and slogans.
“ANA is extremely proud to become a Tokyo 2020 Official Partner. We look forward to being able to contribute to the success of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and to supporting Japan’s national Olympic and Paralympic teams,” said Osamu Shinobe, president and CEO, ANA. “We believe that sport provides people with dreams, hope and encouragement. It also contributes to world peace, and this is the reason we have been enthusiastically supporting various athletes and sport committees.”
The games of Tokyo 2020 are set to take place July 24–Aug. 9, 2020, with athletes from around the globe competing in 28 different sports in arenas across Tokyo.
