The 2017 summer cruise season just got more exciting, with Holland America’s launch of the MS Oosterdam. She’ll ply the seas to and from Alaska from late April through late September, joining six other Holland America ships for a total of 135 departures, ranging from seven-day cruises to 14-day Great Alaskan Explorer sailings — more than any other cruise line operating this northwest route. Routes will include 46 seven-day round-trip cruises from Vancouver, B.C. The Oosterdam’s schedule include 21 seven-day round-trip excursions from Seattle, with port calls at Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan in Alaska, and Victoria, B.C., in Canada.

Along the way, passengers will enjoy sights that include Puget Sound, Stephens passage and Hubbard Glacier. All Alaska cruises include Alaska’s Inside Passage and at least one of the state’s glaciers and fjords. Alaskan landmarks include Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, Tracy Arm and/or the twin Sawyer Glaciers. New onboard features in suites on both the Oosterdam and Eurodam include new furniture, soft goods, renovated bathrooms and enhanced entertainment systems. Also new: the swish Gallery Bar (replacing Northern Lights), entertainment at Lincoln Center Stage arranged in partnership with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and Billboard Onboard in partnership with Billboard.

Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection Review

I am looking out at Vietnam’s largest city from the country’s tallest building. Sitting in a comfortable chair facing the floor-to-ceiling window, I have taken in the view in daylight and darkness at dusk and dawn. It’s ever-changing and always hypnotic.

El Cielo Resort and Winery Review

Just south of the San Diego-Tijuana border, El Cielo Resort and Winery is located in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s most celebrated wine region. Going to this hidden gem is easy, as you can take a two-hour drive from San Diego or fly into Ensenada Airport and take the short, scenic drive to the resort. Upon entrance to the resort, you are surrounded by 1,640 feet of lush vineyards, but most awe-dropping is its location between two stunning mountain ranges.
