Here, There, Everywhere: Letter from the Editor

October 2016

Summer may be over, but the busy travel season sure isn’t. This month I embark on a trip to Doha, Dubai and Abu Dubai with GT’s Banu Yilmaz, then I’m immediately off to Los Angeles for our 2016 Globility Board event at Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. Over the past few months I ventured all over, from Miami, Dallas and Colorado (twice!) to Michigan, Virginia and across the pond to Belgium and London. Phew! But I’m not alone — turn to page 40 to hear more from other women in travel and be inspired to wander, whether solo, with a significant other, family or friends.

My photo this month is from July’s Global Business Travel Association annual convention. I took the opportunity to acquaint myself with Alitalia’s business-class product. Next time I hope to experience it from 35,000 feet. Speaking of premium products, be sure to check out this month’s companion book, Class Act Guide, available Oct. 15. The book contains useful information on every first- and business-class cabin flying today, including an up-close look at what’s new this year. Firsthand in 2016 I’ve tried Brussels Airlines’ new premium-economy product and flew Air India’s first Boeing 787 service between Newark (EWR) and London (LHR). Needless to say, there are a lot of updates, and you will want to get your hands on the 2016 Class Act Guide.

We celebrate an important milestone this month: our 175th issue. Turn to page 36 for more. It’s also a personal milestone: Oct. 10 marks my 10th anniversary as part of the GT family. It’s amazing how time flies and how much I’ve experienced, right along with our readers, through 175 issues and a 10-year tenure. Thank you all for being part of our business and personal successes.

The world awaits in this issue as we visit Auckland, Singapore, Seattle, Lucerne, San Diego, Hanoi, Amman, India, Puerto Rico and Mexico City. Next month take a closer look at how to travel with your four-legged friends. Let’s continue the journey together!
