Many people fuel their day with a cup or two of coffee, while serious aficionados insist on only the best beans they can get their hands on. Fabled Malibu, California, health and wellness destination The Ranch, noted for its results-oriented fitness programs, sought out the best coffee available when updating its offerings for 2024. Guests of sister retreat The Ranch in Hudson Valley, New York, opening this spring, will also enjoy this special perk.

While past guests to The Ranch Malibu knowingly went without coffee during their restorative stay, guests are now able to jumpstart their day with a special blend designed exclusively for the property. The Ranch Roast, developed in partnership with SACACLI (a Fairtrade-, Regenerative Organic- and Organic-Certified farming cooperative in Nicaragua), is a light roast blend that not only delivers a boost of caffeine but also potent antioxidant-rich benefits while being mold-free. Ranch regulars will be pleased to know what they are drinking comes from a cooperative with a steadfast commitment to environmental conservation, soil health and community. Tea enthusiasts, meanwhile, can get their daily boost with a selection of caffeinated teas alongside decaffeinated options.

Colon Hydrotherapy (colonics), just introduced to The Ranch Malibu’s elective offerings and on offer at the Hudson Valley property, delivers detoxifying benefits and helps support healthy digestion. This transformative therapy is safe and effective for a wide range of ages and fitness levels and involves the gentle infusion of water into the colon to delicately eliminate accumulated waste material, gas, mucus, undigested foods, and other toxins lining the folds and crevices of the colon. Holistic nutritionist Fatima Rivas works with each guest on a customized treatment plan, incorporating detoxification of organs, pressure point techniques, calming breath work, sound healing, aromatherapy and acupressure on the feet.

Rivas notes that after a treatment, guests will experience a “sense of inner lightness, improved sleep, heightened energy, glowing skin and an increase in performance.” She adds guests opting for multiple sessions during their stay may see an overall improvement of their digestive health, immune system and entire body.

Another exciting development is The Ranch’s on-site CCOF-certified organic garden being recognized as Regenerative Organic Certified by the Regenerative Organic Alliance. In order to receive this special designation, the on-site farm underwent extensive soil testing and a complete audit of its practices over the course of 2023 to ensure compliance with three key pillars of ROA: farmers go above and beyond by practicing agricultural techniques that ensure healthy soil, the ethical and humane treatment of animals, and fairness for farmers and workers.

These 2024 updates join improvements and additions to the program implemented in late 2023, including a more flexible hiking schedule offering guests a choice of a two- or four-hour morning hike.  An Energy Healing service, added in late 2023, has also emerged as one of the most requested services by guests. Benefits include profound emotional and physical shifts, increasing balance, harmonizing energy flow, promoting a sense of calm, reducing stress and helping one connect with their true self.

Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh Review

Phnom Penh as we imagined it stretches beneath us: a picturesque, low-rise mix of Southeast Asian and French Colonial styles. When the inhabitants of those buildings look back at us here in the Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Chip Mong Tower, they see the future.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
