Starting this month, Greater Toronto Airways will offer daily flights from Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport to the Niagara District Airport in Niagara-on-the-Lake. And the total flying time is a remarkably short 12 minutes. Before the new route started, visitors in Toronto looking to get to Niagara had two options: an hour-long drive (without traffic) or a 90-minute ViaRail train trip. The new flight offers a much faster alternative. The airline’s website says the flight is 15 minutes, but David Nissan, vice president of operations, Greater Toronto Airways, says it’s actually just 12. “We’re trying to provide a more-convenient service for people,” Nissan tells Canadian news source The Star. “If you look at the commute versus the flight time, there’s a massive difference.” Flights will begin Sept. 15, and can be booked on the Greater Toronto Airways website. A one-way ticket costs CAN $85, and a round-trip flight is $159. The trip is undertaken via an eight-seat plan that departs twice daily from each airport, Monday through Friday, year -ound. Flights leave from Toronto at 7 a.m., and 4:30 p.m., and from Niagara District at 8:30 a.m., and 6 p.m.
