This winter season sees a major milestone in the history of Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski in St. Moritz as the hotel celebrates its 20th birthday. To celebrate those two decades, the hotel invites international guests and locals in St Moritz to experience its freshly renovated lobby as well as a brand-new lobby bar redesigned in a contemporary style.

Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski is immersed in tradition and the celebrations allow guests to look back on a renowned history. The destination St Moritz Bad is where St. Moritz tourism originated, where the mineral healing source is located and which still today is a health center adjacent to the Kempinski. The original spa became famous for its carbonated and iron-rich Mauritius spring, which led to Switzerland’s first spa tourism destination in the 19th century. Since then, guests of the hotel have been able to sample the spring water from a fountain located in the spa area of the hotel. It has been 20 years since Kempinski Hotels, Europe’s oldest hotel group, reopened the iconic Grand Hotel des Bains in December 2002, after a 14-month renovation process.

This 5-star hotel with an international reputation has always succeeded in combining the joy of traditional Swiss heritage and culture with modern, contemporary luxury service and just the right amount of sportiness.

The hotel is located at the foot of the Signalbahn and the legendary Hahnensee piste, and offers visitors the opportunity to ski in and out to the Corviglia and Corvatsch ski areas. Cross-country ski trails and hiking paths in the hotel park also lead directly to the lakes and forests in Engadine valley.

Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski recently unveiled its intensive, two-month renovation of the hotel’s lobby and adjoining bar. The renovation also includes refurbishing the buffet area at award-winning main restaurant Les Saisons, a new entry and reception area, and new luxury shopping units.

Local architect Nikolas Travaseros, also an interior designer, led this grand project. The transformation brings new elegance and luxury to the St. Moritz hotel. A mix of comfort and contemporary design was chosen, with clean lines, brightness and an open modern atmosphere. The hotel now offers one of the best cocktail-sipping spots in St. Moritz, as Kempinski Bar & Lobby is a haven where guests and locals find refuge and unwind after an active day outside, enjoying a glass of a refreshing beverage, or partaking of Kempinski’s signature high tea with fine Swiss patisserie.

Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski will continue its upgrade in the upcoming off season with an extensive renovation of its rooms.

In the traditional building from 1864, Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski welcomes guests to 228 hotel rooms and suites, as well as the Alpine Suites with one–five bedrooms. Culinary delights can be tasted in the newly renovated Lobby Bar, as well as two award-winning restaurants, including the 17 Gault Millau points accredited restaurant Cà d’Oro, and 14 Gault Millau points accredited Ristorante Da Adriano, as well as Les Saisons. Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.

In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips. From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Most unique to the island is its lack of vehicles. People on the island get around on mules and donkeys as well as water taxis, making for a peaceful and laid-back day. Hydra lies a two-hour ferry ride from Piraeus port in Athens.
