There’s a lot that can go wrong when it comes to airline schedules — unpredictable weather, mechanical troubles and even discordant passengers. Freebird makes canceled or delayed flights or connections a lot less stressful.

Freebird is a simple mobile solution that allows travelers to skip long customer service lines and book a new ticket on any airline with only three taps on their phone.

FreebirdHere’s how it works: Before a business trip or vacation, simply login to Freebird online, put in flight details and pay a $19 one-way or $34 round-trip fee. If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, Freebird will send you a text message with options to rebook at no additional cost. Once you select your flight, Freebird will book it, and you’re ready to fly.

Freebird streamlines the individual travel process by helping travelers avoid long lines and phone calls at the airport as well as high last-minute rebooking prices. It’s also a great tool for corporate travel managers and travel agents, allowing them to manage several employee or client trips via one easy portal.

After receiving $5 million in new funding from venture capital investors General Catalyst and Accomplice, the mobile rebooking solution plans to even further expand its corporate travel presence.

“Freebird is really onto something,” said Joel Cutler, managing director, General Catalyst. “Interruptions in air travel are more common than any of us like. Freebird’s ability to detect problems and create instant alternatives is gaining great traction with TMCs and their corporate clients. It’s easy to see how the services becomes a must-have for anyone looking to take the hassle out of their travels.”

Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a small town that’s big on historic landmarks, buildings, parks and Western lore.
