On Sept. 28 and 30, actor and Greensboro native Ken Jeong (star of The Hangover film trilogy from Legendary Pictures) will join the Greensboro Symphony at the historic Carolina Theatre in Greensboro, N.C., for two separate productions of Not So Classical. Led by acclaimed filmmaker David Donnelly and music director Dmitry Sitkovetsky, this special hybrid of film and live concert performance kicks off the symphony’s 58^th season, and is part of the Tanger Outlets Masterworks Series.

Told through five film vignettes during a 90-minute, no-intermission performance, the world premiere event melds video narrative with four classical masterpieces: Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Overture Lo Special,” W.A. Mozart’s “Violin Concerto in G Major,” Frederic Chopin’s “Prelude No. 15 for String Orchestra in D Flat Major” and Alexander Borodin’s “Symphony No. 2.” The accompanying film choices examine the unique human relationship with music and how it affects our lives. Fascinating footage includes interviews with residents of Greensboro, reveals Jeong’s life in this Southern city and follows members of the orchestra, including Dmitry Sitkovetsky, board members and community leaders.
