As the 2020 Tokyo Olympics looms, Japan’s continual grow as a favorite tourist destination resulted in a number of iconic hotels opening their doors this fall.
The first of the new hotels is already open. The Halekulani Okinawa opened at the end of July. This is the brand’s first property outside of Hawai’i, but it sticks with its comfort zone of a tropical paradise. The hotel will feature more than 360 guestrooms, including 47 suites and five private villas.
The next hotel, opening sometime this month, is The LakeSuite KO no Sumika, in Hokkaido. Situated near Lake Toya, the property brings 80 rooms to the region and features a variety of ways for guests to unwind and relax.
Another hotel opening in autumn is Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Nasu. This hotel will sit in the highlands of Tochigi Prefecture. This property’s highlight is local cuisine and a variety of authentic experiences — perfect for families traveling to the region.
The Okura Tokyo opens Sept. 12. Formerly known as Hotel Okura Tokyo, this property features two main buildings, spanning 17 and 41 floors. The shorter of the buildings evokes a more traditional Japanese experience, while the tower presents a more modern approach.
