While ostriches are native to Africa, Aruba’s arid climate and rugged landscape make the perfect home away from home. Come learn all about the leggy bird and its cousin, the emus.
Explore the park’s three caves: Guadirikiri Cave, Fontein Cave and Huliba Cave. Guadirikiri Cave is notable for its sizable bat population, while the Fontein Cave features Arawak Indian paintings on the ceilings. The 300-foot-long Huliba Cave is often called the Tunnel of Love thanks to its heart-shaped opening. Outside the caves, the park teems with wildlife and hiking trails.
Before cars, donkeys were the primary means of transportation on Aruba. Today, however, donkeys fall victim to speeding cars. Luckily, the Donkey Sanctuary Aruba offers them a safe haven. Kids can enjoy petting the animals and learning how to nurse them back to health.
Visitors learn about the life cycle of the butterfly during a guided tour, and if you’re lucky you may see a newborn butterfly emerge and take flight. Tours are 15–20 minutes and after, guests can wander the tropical, butterfly-filled gardens.
