Faena Hotel Miami Beach Opens

Feb 10, 2016
Daily

New oceanfront Faena Hotel Miami Beach opened last month. The hotel consists of 169 rooms and suites, and each floor has a dedicated Faena Butler that acts as a point of contact for service. Most rooms have private balconies with views of the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay or the Miami skyline. The hotel’s elegant Art Deco design pays homage to 1950s Miami Beach.

The hotel includes restaurants from Argentinean chef Francis Mallmann and James Beard Award winner Paul Qui. Mallmann’s Los Fuegos features a contemporary take on traditional Argentine asados, with grilled and roasted meats prepared in an open-fire kitchen. Qui’s Pao is the chef’s first restaurant outside of Texas and offers his innovative Asian cuisine.

Faena also includes a 22,000-square-foot Tierra Santa Healing House spa, which occupies the entire first floor. The South American-inspired spa uses ancient healing rituals and indigenous ingredients combined with modern technologies. There’s also a 150-seat theater with live shows and performances inside the hotel.

The Faena Hotel Miami Beach is meant to anchor the new Faena District, a neighborhood with art and culture at its core, spanning six blocks along Collins Avenue. The area includes a new Rem Koolhaas/OMA-designed center for arts and culture, residential towers, a beach-side guesthouse, retail complex and marina.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
