Airlines are constantly searching for ways to cater to needs of all travelers. One growing subset: Business-class travelers who want certain aspects of this seat class, but not all the bells and whistles. In order to appeal to this group of travelers, Emirates conceptualized a new category of seats called “Basic Business.”
Basic Business seats offer more options by including just the business-class seat and removing the extra perks that come with business class, like lounge access, seat selection and the potential to earn a certain number of miles.
Not only does this option speak to business-class travelers, but it also can be an attractive option for those who would normally buy premium-economy seats and are ready for the next level of seating.
Emirates has been testing these fares on select flights and will continue to slowly implement them on its entire fleet. Emirates also plans to introduce premium-economy seating in 2020.
