Red Savannah launched new South African itineraries in time for summer’s dry season. The game reserves of South Africa experience dry season in July and August and, with foliage at a minimum and watering holes at low levels, this is the best time to spot wildlife. These two new itineraries are perfect for a July or August trip.
Designed with families in mind, Private House Safari allows guests to explore the malaria-free Waterberg region of South Africa. Guests hop from the fantastically quirky Leobo The Observatory to the supremely comfortable Morukuru River House in the game-populated Madikwe Private Game Reserve. Outdoor lovers will be delighted with the adventures at Leobo Private Reserve, including quad biking, riding safaris, fishing, camping out and clay pigeon shooting.
Guests also explore the pièce de resistance: a two-story library with a domed roof that opens to show the vast night skies. This one-of-a-kind observatory features a 20-inch telescope to see the constellations in all their glory. Red Savannah can arrange a professional astronomer to visit and tell stories revealed by the stars. Guests can even wear spaceman outfits for the full experience.
Madikwe Private Reserve offers a Big Five safari without the crowds. Morukuru River House is ideally positioned for game drives in the bush. The property features an infinity pool for guests with views of elephants and antelope, often spotted drinking at Marico River.
Explore South Africa’s Kwazulu Natal, a remarkable region offering history, indigenous culture, unique land and seascapes, and Big Five wildlife experiences. This journey explores the battlefields of the Anglo-Zulu War, Phinda Private Game Reserve and the Southern Drakensberg region. The trip ends in the vibrant coastal city of Durban. The trip was designed for guests looking to enjoy the freedom of having their own car for spontaneous trips and exploring on their own. Other highlights include game drives in Phinda Reserve with a guide and Zulu tracker, opportunities to observe the Big Five, bush walks with a naturalist, canoeing along the Mzinene River, elephant collaring, rhino notching and pangolin tagging.

Apr 17, 2024Amansara Review
It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
