Lufthansa and Fraport partnered to offer passengers a new shopping experience at Frankfurt Airport. Travelers in Lufthansa lounges will be able to make purchases on provided iPads. Items available will include those sold by retailers within the airport, ranging from gourmet edibles to clothing to travel must-haves. In less than 30 minutes, the purchases will be delivered from the store to waiting passengers in the comfort of the Lufthansa lounge.
It is expected more retailers will participate in the near future. The service will also expand to allow passengers to peruse airport restaurant menus from iPads located at check-in and security, place an order, have their food delivered at the departure gate, where they can enjoy their meal immediately or during flight. These options will be in addition to the already popular shopping service available on Lufthansa during long-haul flights landing in Frankfurt, which allows passengers to buy items on board and pick them up at the arrival gate.
