Things are hopping in Bangkok at Asiatique the Riverfront, the city’s newest night market and lifestyle venue. Located by the Chao Phraya River at Chareonkrung Soi 74-76, the Riverfront was designed to evoke nostalgia for Bangkok’s past as a trading post during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, transforming the once-bustling international port into a combination night bazaar and mall housing more than 1,000 shops and 40 restaurants in a huge warehouse complex. You will find lots of fashion, souvenirs, design items, handicrafts and home furnishings at the most upscale market in Bangkok, popular with locals and tourists alike. Concerts, nightly shows, festivals and celebrations provide entertainment galore.
Avoid taking a taxi to the Riverside, as the traffic can be terrible. The easiest and fastest way to arrive is by boat. Take the Skytrain (BTS) to Saphan Taksin and board the free shuttle ferry at the end of the pier. The 10-minute boat ride brings you to a long boardwalk that looks dreamy at sunset. The market is open from 5 p.m. to midnight; the boat runs until 11 p.m.
