Denver’s New ART Hotel Brings An Edge To The Mile-High City

Jun 4, 2015
Daily / Exclusive

With works by artists Joel Otterson, Larry Bell and famed native Apache painter, sculptor and illustrator Allan Hauser featured throughout, Denver’s new The ART Hotel is set to make a creative statement in the city’s downtown cultural district. Designed to be experiential, the collection, curated by Denver Art Museum former curator Dianne Vanderlip, presides over public spaces, meeting rooms and guestrooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows emit tons of natural light, adding to guests’ experience of each painting and sculpture. The dining room at FIRE includes a custom commission by Otterson of chandeliers created from found objects, plus bespoke installations by Bell.

In the realm of culinary art, executive chef Chris Jakubiec — former executive chef at The Jefferson Hotel in Washington, D.C. — works kitchen magic with local ingredients. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu includes Colorado lamb and beef, with breakfast specialties such as Bison Benedict with bison striploin, poached farm eggs, breakfast potatoes and green chili hollandaise. Before or after dinner, be sure to slip onto the restaurant terrace for views of the Rocky Mountains and a large-scale Alan Houser sculpture. Savor the landscape while sampling a handcrafted cocktail. Choices include the Vanilla Old Fashioned and the Colorado Pomegranate Cosmo, made with Colorado Woody Creek Vodka, PAMA pomegranate liqueur, fresh lime and a splash of fresh cranberry juice.
