To better care for the fate of our four-legged travel companions, Delta Air Lines takes steps to update and innovate its pet transportation.

Delta Air Lines entered into a long-term partnership with CarePod, a startup focused on bringing pet transportation and safety to a new gold standard.

The partnership means Delta will provide safer and more comfortable travel for pets. The partnership will also allow families and owners to check in on their companions at any moment. Changes follow the introduction of a staff veterinarian, who will monitor the pet transportation systems in place at Delta Air Lines.

“Demand for pet shipments is strong and we are always looking for ways to create a best-in-class travel experience for pets and their owners,” said Shawn Cole, vice president, Delta Cargo.

“Working with a start-up like CarePod allows Delta the flexibility to enhance our service in new and innovative ways. We are able to think big, start small and learn fast to solve specific customer needs.”

The partnership with CarePod is just Delta Cargo’s latest effort to improve pet transport on its network. The airline offers real-time GPS tracking and clear pet visibility during the entire trip.
