Delta Air Lines stopped selling day passes for its Sky Club lounges in an effort to decrease overcrowding and offer a better experience for members.
Other airlines have not yet followed suit, though crowding has become an issue industry wide as lounges become more popular and access options increase.
Delta’s new policy took effect Nov. 15, 2018. Lounge access is now available only to Sky Club members, international premium-cabin passengers, SkyTeam elite members on some international itineraries, and premium Delta or American Express credit card holders. The airline is no longer selling $59/5,000-mile single-visit passes.
“Each day we’re continuing to invest in the Club to provide an elevated experience, and today access to the Club is in higher demand than ever,” the airline said in a statement. The changes help “to ensure we can continue to provide an exceptional Club experience and take care of guests that choose to fly with us or with our partners.”
Anyone with a current single-visit pass can still use it as long as the expiration date is valid and they are traveling on Delta or with a partner airline.
