“Star Wars and the Power of Costume” continues until April 2 at the Denver Art Museum, and whether your taste in fashion runs more toward Hans Solo or his Wookiee companion, this fascinating exhibition features objects on loan from the archives of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art from all the films that comprise the Star Wars series. Along with video displays featuring designers and actors, various interactive encounters help reveal the creative processes used by concept artists and costume designers. The exhibition is presented by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in partnership with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, and in consultation with Lucasfilm Ltd.

An equally intriguing (and bit more historic if you don’t count Thor and Odin), Vikings are the subject of the new “Vikings: Beyond the Legend” at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Opening March 10 and on view until Aug. 13, this exhibition features the largest collection of Viking artifacts in North America, along with full-scale model Viking ships. Artifacts include items constructed of textiles, wood, metal, bone, leather, glass and ceramics. Authentic Viking games and strength tests with a replica Viking sword provide a glimpse into the daily lives of these ancients peoples, while other displays details Norse mythology, religious iconography, armor and weapons. Items in the exhibit include the earliest known Scandinavian crucifix.
