Travelers at LaGuardia International Airport can now get a shared ride to anywhere in the five boroughs of New York City for $20 or less thanks to a new partnership.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates LaGuardia, is working with ride-sharing app Via to provide low-cost ground transportation from the airport. Now, carpool rides to the Bronx and Staten Island cost $20, and rides to Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn are $15.
The new program, LGA Connect service, currently being pilot tested, is available to passengers arriving in Terminals C and D.
The program will pop up as an option in the Via app. Riders enter their destination, the app matches them to other people at the airport with similar destinations and arranges a pick-up.
Via delivers a car and driver within 10 minutes of a ride request. Passengers are dropped off on a corner no more than two blocks from their destination. Rides are available 8–1 a.m., seven days a week.
