Boeing’s first 787-10 Dreamliner is now complete and ready to begin flight testing later this year.
The third member of the Dreamliner family, the 787-10 is the largest aircraft manufactured by Boeing to date. It will have a capacity of 330 passengers, 36 percent more than the 787-8 and 14 percent more than the 787-9. The wide-body aircraft has a total length of 224 feet, 18 feet longer than the 787-9 variation.
Singapore Airlines will take the first delivery of the new aircraft, expected in 2018.
“This airplane, the most efficient in its class, is the result of years of hard work and dedication from our Boeing teammates, suppliers and community partners in South Carolina and across the globe,” said Kevin McAllister, president and CEO, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “We know our customers, including launch customer Singapore Airlines, are going to love what the 787-10 will do for their fleets, and we can’t wait to see them fly it.”
Nine customers, including All Nippon Airways, British Airways, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, KLM and United Airlines, currently have 149 aircraft on order.
