Nayara Spa Review

At the end of April, my two friends and I went on a girls' trip to Costa Rica. On the first leg of the trip we went to Nayara Gardens in La Fortuna, nestled in the rainforest at the base of the Arenal Volcano. While there we were given the chance to try out treatments at the most stunning spa I have been to.

Four Days in Vienna

Several years and a few thousand working hours ago, I remember speaking with a group of colleagues about our favorite vacation destinations. Someone in the room had recently returned from a trip to Vienna, Austria, and I was sold. There was romance in her voice when she described the scenery and the city … more than I’d ever heard anyone talk about a European destination before.

A Busy Weekend in Portland

We spent a long weekend visiting family and friends in Portland recently, stuffing a variety of activities in just a few days. The biggest draw was our 4-year-old granddaughter's participation in her preschool's spring "dinner theater" and silent auction fundraiser on Friday night. We had seen this same group of 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds perform in a December Reindeer Games variety show and were impressed with the performances (singing and dancing and dialogue) the children's teachers pulled out of them, and we'd been told that the spring show was an even bigger extravaganza. It turned out to be true.

Travel in Style

In a meeting about 30 years ago, the executives of United MileagePlus reported an internal survey indicated their best business customers were also their best leisure customers. It came as no shock to me, as I understand well the travel bug bites hard; and when you travel for business, you are always looking for that other place to discover on your own. Same goes with bleisure: Long before the term became widely used by the industry, we were using it and living it at Global Traveler. Often my business trips to California, Florida and all over the world included a weekend of golf, usually with clients.

Loyola Home Run Derby

“It might be. It could be. It is! Home run!” That was the way late Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Caray called home runs in Chicago for so many years. If Caray was at Loyola's Hoyne Park on Saturday, he would have broken out that call for one important homer.

From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Most unique to the island is its lack of vehicles. People on the island get around on mules and donkeys as well as water taxis, making for a peaceful and laid-back day. Hydra lies a two-hour ferry ride from Piraeus port in Athens.

Former Massachusetts Glasses Factory Transforms into New Hotel

In the late 1800s, eyeglass manufacturer George Washington Wells became the founder and owner of the largest eyeglass company in the town by merging with several smaller lens manufacturers in Southbridge, Massachusetts. By the early 1900s, Wells was running the largest eyeglass manufacturing company in the world, owning several factories in Southbridge and occupying more than 80 acres on both sides of the Quinebaug River. It was called the American Optical Company, known locally in town as “AO.”
