Flying with Condor: Germany Part 1

by Mary Melnick

Apr 10, 2024

On a recent trip to Germany, I flew Condor Airlines‘ business class out of New York’s JFK. After a smooth check-in and a quick TSA line, I headed to the T7 Lounge to relax before my flight. In the lounge I helped myself to some snacks and a Coke while I got some work done. Around the time of boarding, I headed down to my gate and was able to board as soon as I got there.Condor Airlines

My seat was the first one, and it looked very spacious. Once I put my carry-on in the overhead bin, I settled into my seat and decided to check out all the bells and whistles that came with it. The seat was stocked with slippers, a pillow, a blanket and a mattress pad for the night portion of the flight. There was also an amenity kit filled with a sleeping mask, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, lip balm, body mist and socks. We were also given a snack of pizza-flavored crackers and a water bottle.Condor Airlines

Once I was situated, I was offered a glass of Champagne before take-off. As I was sipping it, they also brought over a basket filled with more snacks, including popcorn, Pringles, gummy bears and an orange-mango smoothie drink.Condor Airlines Condor Airlines

After a smooth take-off, we were handed a menu with our dinner options as well as a glass of water and another glass of Champagne. I chose the shrimp scampi with broccoli, saffron rice and tomato bell pepper jus. While waiting for the meal I reclined my seat and enjoyed the Disney movie Elementals, which I highly recommend. Our appetizer course came out, with bell pepper dip, marinated tuna and a mixed green salad — all delicious. Once it was time for the main course, I was getting full but still had room for the meal. The shrimp scampi was absolutely delicious; I was very happy with my choice.Condor Airlines

When I finished my meal, I decided it was time to lie down and try to sleep for a couple hours since we would be landing around 6 a.m. in Germany. To help me fall asleep, I decided to put on a movie I’d already seen. I put on my sleep mask and left my headphones on so I could let the familiar words help me sleep. I ended up sleeping for about an hour or so; I wanted to sleep more, but it was a weird time of night, so I got what I could get. Since I couldn’t fall back asleep, I put on Entourage movie. When that ended, I still had some time left in the flight but not enough for a full movie, so I chose another one I’ve seen, Ant Man.Condor Airlines

Before I knew it, it was time to land, and I had to put my seat back up and prepare for landing. The landing was smooth, and we were off the plane in no time.

Stay tuned for more from my trip to Germany.

Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh Review

Phnom Penh as we imagined it stretches beneath us: a picturesque, low-rise mix of Southeast Asian and French Colonial styles. When the inhabitants of those buildings look back at us here in the Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Chip Mong Tower, they see the future.
