This new year is flying by, and we are already approaching the time to plan the 2019 Wines on the Wing Survey. Each year, we invite airlines to participate in a blind taste-test competition, where judges taste and score airline wine in three categories: international first and business class and North America.
Now in its 16th year, wine professionals from around the world sit on a panel and judge the wines during a monitored blind tasting. With so many fine wines submitted, we award not only the highest scoring airline in each of the three categories but also the highest scoring individual whites, reds and Champagnes/sparkling wines in each category.
Since I began helping with the event three years ago, I’ve started taking notice of the different wines served on any airline. Whether you’re a wine aficionado or novice drinker, it’s such a fun event and really eye-opening at the end when the scores are revealed in our August issue.
