A few weekends ago, my husband and I took my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, niece and nephew to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Philadelphia. My husband and I had been to the museum before, but wanted to take our nephew, as he really enjoys the types of artifacts in the collection.

Our intelligent and inquisitive 4-year-old nephew was excited to see the “Mummy Museum.” He ran through, marveling at the various exhibits, particularly the mummies. Our niece is almost 2, so she was more interested in pointing at displays between snack breaks. Our visit coincided with Lunar New Year events, including crafts and performances geared toward young children. I was impressed with the number of kid-friendly options.

After our visit, we commented that while we enjoy the museum in general, it was even more fun to experience it with our niece and nephew. We’re already thinking of places for our next museum trip.
