April 7 is National Beer Day, and The Essex Resort & Spa, in Essex Junction, Vt., is celebrating with a month of hops-infused festivities, including a beer-themed culinary demonstration in the lobby. With a location nearby many Vermont breweries, culinary classes on cooking with state brews and more than 20 craft beers on tap, The Essex Resort & Spa is a perfect destination for beer lovers.

Available year-round, the Bed & Brew offer includes daily breakfast, a tasting flight of Vermont ales and beers and two featured local craft beers in room upon arrival. The special starts at $318 based on double occupancy, and also includes information for a self-guided brewery tour along Pine Street in Burlington.

For the month of April, guests booking Bed & Brew receive complimentary shuttle service to Pine Street. Also this month, a 2.5-hour Cook Academy class, Cooking with Vermont Beer, will teach participants to prepare balsamic beer French onion soup; beer-braised chicken; buttery potatoes; bacon-beer Brussels sprouts; and a chocolate stout cake. Days and times vary by week and the cost is $98 per person.

The Spa offers a buy one, get one offer in the month of April for the signature Body Brew, a custom treatment infused with hops grown on the property. The cost is $125 for 50 minutes and $175 for 80 minutes.

Available April 5, 12 and 19, local Greg Doremus of Vermont Guided Tours will lead participants on an excursion to three breweries for $50 per person.
