When it comes to streamlined security, United Airlines is getting ahead of the game with the opening of automated screening lines at Chicago (ORD). The opening is part of United’s larger goal to improve overall airport security experience and increase efficiency without sacrificing safety.
The improvements at O’Hare include automated screening lines allowing up to five customers to fill there bins simultaneously for a quicker screening process, a parallel conveyor system that automatically returns empty bins to the front of the queue to minimize wait time and a TSA PreCheck security checkpoint at Terminal 1.
United is the first U.S.-based airline to open the automated screening lanes at multiple airports. Last month, the airline launched automated screening lanes at its hub in Los Angeles (LAX) and expects to open automated lanes at Newark Liberty International Airport before Thanksgiving.
“As the first and only U.S.-based airline to launch automated screening lanes in multiple airports, United continues its commitment to using the latest technology to meet the changing needs of our customers and improve the airport experience,” said Greg Hart, executive vice president and chief operations officer, United Airlines.
