American Cruise Lines announced its fleet of four classic paddlewheelers will undergo a redesign, refit and rebranding. As the paddlewheelers are brought to American’s newest design standard, the names will change to include American, like other ships in the fleet. The paddlewheelers will now be American Splendor, American Heritage and American West. American Pride will retain its name.
The announcement follows the company’s unveiling of its American Melody. “American Melody’s extraordinary reception, particularly by our loyalty program members, has inspired us to bring the same new aesthetic to our entire paddlewheel fleet,” said Charles B. Robertson, president & CEO, American Cruise Lines. “Both in designation and design, all four paddlewheelers will meet the sophisticated standard we set for U.S. River cruising.”
Studio DADO will complete the paddlewheel redesign. American Splendor and American Heritage will celebrate musical genres of the river, from jazz and blues to country and rock ‘n roll, as well as historical figures like Mark Twain. American West and American Pride will highlight Western and Native American themes, including the Lewis & Clark expedition. Each ship will be made over with new color palates, textiles, linen, furniture, carpets, artwork and flourishes.

Apr 22, 2024Meet 5 Women Shaping the Brixen/South Tyrol Travel Experience
Although a destination’s terrain, cuisine and cultural attributes always draw travelers in, it is often the people they meet that make the trip an enduring memory rather than a box to be checked off. It’s a job responsibility that people working around the Plose and adjoining town of Brixen (in Italy’s Trentino-Alto Adige region) take seriously. This is even more true for five women dedicated to introducing visitors to new aspects of the time-honored ski, leisure and hiking mountain destination in the Dolomites.
