American Airlines and Qatar Airways already cooperate, but a renewed partnership brings more potential for connectivity.
“Our goal is to continue to expand and deepen our global partnerships to complement American’s network and create more choice for our customers,” said Doug Parker, chairman and CEO, American Airlines.
There are no confirmed routes for the new partnership, but American Airlines is exploring the possibility of adding service to Doha (DOH).
Pending approval, the partnership gives travelers easier access to more destinations throughout the Middle East and Asia. Qatar Airways also places its code on American flights in the United States to offer increased connectivity to its own passengers.
“As we look to build out a truly global network and create a strong presence in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, the renewed codeshare with Qatar Airways will be one of the cornerstones of making that a reality,” said Vasu Raja, senior vice president, network strategy, American Airlines.
