American Airlines placed an order for the newly launched Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The company converted an existing order for 30 A321neo aircraft to the new A321XLR. It also placed an order for 20 of the A321XLR, totaling 50 planes.
Airbus revealed the new plane at the Paris Air Show last month. It has a range of 8,700 kilometers (15 percent more than the A321LR), which Airbus said is the longest of any single-aisle commercial jetliner. The company said the plane “will allow airlines to operate the aircraft from US East Coast airports to medium-size European cities.”
Other airlines are jumping on board, too, with recent orders from carriers like Aer Lingus, Iberia and Qantas.
American Airlines is the largest Airbus operator around the world. The company has 422 aircraft in operation and outstanding orders for 115 A321neos and A321 XLRs.
Airbus is expected to start deliveries of the A321XLR to customers beginning in 2023.

The snow has melted, the sun is out and fans of the great outdoors gear up for summer camping. Historic Arapahoe Valley Ranch in Granby, Colorado, is a great destination choice. During his tenure as president of the St. Louis Flying Club, Knight formed a personal friendship with Lindbergh, and went on to build a private airfield at his ranch, used by Lindbergh for his weekend visits to Colorado.
