The snow has melted, the sun is out and fans of the great outdoors gear up for summer camping. Historic Arapaho Valley Ranch in Granby, Colorado, is a great destination choice. The ranch has a fascinating history involving aviator Charles Lindbergh, who became a close personal friend of former ranch owner and pilot Harry Knight. During his tenure as president of the St. Louis Flying Club, Knight formed a personal friendship with Lindbergh, and went on to build a private airfield at his ranch, used by Lindbergh for his weekend visits to Colorado.

Today, Arapaho Valley Ranch offers a mountain-centric glamping experience that includes a variety of lodging options. Choose from 19 glamping tents crafted of canvas, set on raised wooden platforms, and boasting private decks and firepits. Configurations include one or two queen-sized beds, plus a futon. Additionally, there are three canvas tipis, also on raised decks. Each has a queen bed and two cots, plus bedding.

New this season, adventure travelers can also choose one of two yurts, fitted with two queen beds and a full-sized futon. Yurts also have kitchens equipped with dinnerware, silverware, mugs, utensils, frying pan, camp stove and grill. The kitchen is stocked with a cooler, kettle and French Press.

“With plenty of room to spread out, families and friends groups can enjoy a classic Colorado camping experience without sacrificing creature comforts,” said Hayden Hughes, ranch manager, Arapahoe Valley Ranch. “These yurts are the perfect complement to our glamping tents and tipis.”
Today’s adventure travelers can also choose from other on-ranch accommodations: There are 12 RV sites (some with hookups) and 22 sites for tents. Many campsites are positioned along the banks of the Colorado River’s scenic South Fork.
