Passengers traveling through Warsaw Chopin Airport on LOT Polish Airlines may feel like they’re getting the royal treatment.
The airline recently introduced a new program, LOT Moments, that allows friends, family and colleagues to surprise boarding passengers with a themed gift marking a birthday or anniversary, just to say “I love you” or stocked with a selection of fun items for kids.
The innovative gift program, available for passengers boarding an international LOT flight in Warsaw, offers a personal touch to the travel experience. It is part of a broader passenger-centric initiative LOT is putting in place at its main hub. And the efforts are gaining momentum.
Last fall, LOT announced it surpassed its year-over-year goal toward improving its financial standing, following a restructuring plan approved by the European Commission. The results were significant, bringing the carrier into the black and exceeding its cumulative break-even point.
“Our improved effectiveness is marked in all aspects of our operations. Reaching the break-even point is the exclusive success of the company’s activities,” Sebastian Mikosz, CEO, LOT Polish Airlines, said at the time. “There are no market-specific factors, such as aviation fuel prices or currency exchange rates, that helped us achieve these results, as was the case partially last year.”

At Warsaw Chopin Airport, LOT’s priority passengers enjoy a high level of service beginning with the LOT Priority Check-In Area, where concierges assist passengers in a comfortable and quiet atmosphere.
For pre-flight relaxation, LOT Business Lounge Polonez, the largest lounge at Warsaw Chopin Airport, offers an array of hot, cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; snacks; domestic and international newspapers and magazines; complimentary WiFi; and shower facilities.
There’s also a separate area, LOT Elite Lounge, offering dedicated service to passengers traveling in business class on long-haul routes serviced by the airline’s Dreamliners and for Star Alliance Gold cardholders. Services and amenities in the LOT Elite Lounge include a selection of hot dishes, an extended assortment of snacks and beverages, and a specially designed relaxation area.
What’s next? LOT Polish Airlines is planning additional improvements to coincide with ongoing modernization at Warsaw Chopin Airport.
In February, the airport announced it secured financing to modernize its existing terminal, improve road access and add a 5-star hotel. The revitalization will address growing traffic demands. Warsaw Chopin Airport served 10.5 million people in 2014 and expects to see that number increase by a million in 2015. Improvements will bring maximum airport capacity to 22 million passengers annually.
“In order to maintain the highest standards of service for both passengers and airlines in spite of growing intensity of usage, we want to invest in advance in developing infrastructure,” said Michał Kaczmarzyk, director, Warsaw Chopin Airport.
