American Airlines partners with London-based luggage check-in and delivery service Airportr. Customers on any of the airline’s 20 flights a day between Heathrow (LHR) and the United States can now opt to have luggage checked in from any London address. Passengers flying with AA into Heathrow can also have bags delivered to any London address.
The service starts at £30 for the first item, and £10 after that. Passengers can book a one-hour collection slot, up to seven hours in advance of their flight.
The service launched with British Airways last year, and is now available to all BA customers flying from Gatwick (LGW) or Heathrow.
Drivers collect and weigh bags, scan passengers’ passports and boarding passes and seal bags in coded, tamper-proof cases. Customers receive IATA bag receipts after airport screening, which takes place around 90 minutes before departure.
Airportr’s service developed “in consultation with the Civil Aviation Authority and the Transport Security Administration in the U.S. to ensure all processes meet aviation security regulations.”
