My colleague, Dick Evans, and I arrived in Berlin yesterday morning thanks to a TAP Portugal flight to Hamburg (HAM) via Lisbon (LIS) and a quick trip on the very efficient German ICE train. With limited non-stop services to Berlin, we found this a good alternative.
The flight on TAP’s executive class was excellent. The cabin was light, airy and very comfortable. We took off at 6 p.m. and landed at 11:45 p.m. EST (5:45 a.m. local time) — a quick trip to say the least. Usually, in that time span, I would have dinner and watch a TV show. Instead I took one of the fastest flights around from the United States to Europe.
The food on board was beautifully presented, tasty and ample for the short flight. I had tomato soup to start and spinach ravioli as my main course. The lie-flat beds are not totally flat, but very nice to stretch out and relax. We landed and spent some time in the lounge before heading to Hamburg. The lounge offered great food and plenty of televisions to watch your favorite European soccer match!
I’m looking forward to the return flight and enjoying more Portuguese hospitality.
