Wine tourism shows no signs of stopping in 2024, but with so many wineries and tasting rooms around the world, how can one possibly narrow down the list? Consider your destination, then seek out these immersive and engaging wineries and tasting rooms sure to leave you wishing you had found them sooner.

Yering Station, Yarra Valley, Australia

This winery should be on every traveler’s list when in Australia. Located in Yarra Valley, just one hour from Melbourne Airport, Yering Station boasts incredible valley views, as well as its own signature restaurant, outdoor bar and more than enough wines from which to choose. For peak wine-tasting, visit during Australia’s spring, between September and November.

Riboli Family Wines, Los Angeles, California

Under Riboli Family’s ownership since opening in 1917, San Antonio Winery highlights the best of Los Angeles winemaking. San Antonio Winery offers many tasting experiences, including winery tours, tasting flights and various public events. Visitors also have access to several on-site dining options, including Italian Maddalena Restaurant and trendy, al-fresco 1917 Wine Bar & Bistro. San Antonio also has sister locations in Paso Robles and Ontario.

Xanadu in Margaret River, Australia

The laidback, beachside town of Margaret River is the perfect escape from the nearby city of Perth, Australia. Located just three hours from Perth, Xanadu invites visitors to enjoy its chef-driven, modern, Southeast Asian-inspired restaurant and casual tasting room with a rustic feel. Founded by Dr. John Lagan in 1968, the winery takes its name from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s famous poem, “Kubla Khan,” wherein the mysterious Xanadu beckons the narrator. Like the poem, the winery calls travelers to enjoy good wine and views.

Biltmore Winery, Asheville, North Carolina

Did you know Asheville’s Biltmore Estate is more than just a grand and spectacular mansion? The estate is also home to a winery, and visitors can even purchase tickets combining both a visit to the mansion and a tasting at the winery. Guided by tasting room hosts through the portfolio of reds, whites and roses, visitors of the winery also learn about the winemaking and vineyard history. The best time to visit is spring, for thousands of colorful blooms around the state burst with color for an exceptional experience.

Mount Langi Ghiran, Grampians, Australia

The perfect stopover on the way to Grampians National Park, Mount Langi Ghiran lies two hours west of Melbourne and sits in a rural valley teeming with sheep and cattle farms. The cool climate and unique granite sands over sedimentary red clay loam of the valley create high-quality shiraz, landing the winery as a top spot for wine afficionados. In addition to perhaps some of the best shiraz you’ll ever taste, you’re also spoiled with mountain views and delicious food pairings from the on-site café.

Now’s the Time to See Giza, the Nile and Beyond

All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
