Passengers on the new non-stop Amtrak Acela trains between New York and Washington D.C., now have access to free snacks and drinks delivered to their seat by airline-style rolling carts. The new rail service, debuted Sept. 23, offers complimentary coffee, tea, water and light snacks with in-seat dining options, including other food and drink available for credit card purchase. Amtrak also sells phone charging kits on Acela trains.
Amtrak announced new dining options for its sleeper car service aboard the Cardinal, City of New Orleans, Crescent and Silver Meteor long-distance trains, starting Oct. 1. It will roll out the new food on the Silver Star route next year.
The new menu includes hot meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the latter offering menu options such as an Asian noodle bowl and red-wine braised beef. Travelers can order unlimited soft drinks and the first glass of wine, beer or cocktail are included for free.
Passengers can opt for room service for in-cabin dining or eating in the dining car without an advance reservation. The trains will also have an exclusive lounge space for overnight travelers.
