Womanhood Redefined

Jul 31, 2014
General

The Westin New York Grand Central Hotel is reaching to a specific demographic, offering a selection of services and amenities for women who are not mothers.

Womanhood Redefined caters to the one third of all women of childbearing age who are not mothers, tapping into this growing group with rejuvenating wellness, culinary and wellbeing amenities.

The Westin is partnering with bestselling author Melanie Notkin, who coined the term “otherhood” for the demographic of women who don’t have children, by chance or by choice. Wellness Redefined includes a copy of Notkin’s book Otherhood: Modern Women Finding a New Kind of Happiness. The experience also features components inspired by Westin’s signature pillars of wellness — including Feel Well, Move Well and Eat Well — and supports the Westin Well-Being Movement, a recently launched global initiative dedicated to inspiring guests to discover new approaches to well-being.

“The Westin is the first hotel to acknowledge the changing demographic landscape where modern, independent women are marrying later, and having children later than ever before, if ever,” said Notkin. “These discerning women … are passionate about travel, and whether [experience] that speaks to their lifestyle.”

Priced at $234 per night, the three-night Womanhood Redefined experience at The Westin New York Grand Central Hotel includes:

  • Complimentary copy of Otherhood: Modern Women Finding a New Kind of Happiness
  • $25 food and beverage credit to enjoy in-room dining or cocktails at THE LCL: Bar & Kitchen
  • Personal consultation with Executive Chef Brian Wieler
  • Complimentary New Balance workout gear lending (sneakers, socks and workout wear)
  • Personal consultation with the hotel’s RunWestin Running Concierge
  • 10 percent discount on classes at nearby Mang’Oh Yoga Studio
  • Complimentary Westin White Tea candle

The Bishop’s Lodge’s Bunkhouse: A Rustic, Historic Getaway

Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a small town that’s big on historic landmarks, buildings, parks and Western lore. Many of its most fascinating structures also happen to be hotels, including Bishop’s Lodge, which extends the city’s specific charms from the streets into the public areas and private suites and rooms. While most of the properties within historic buildings are upscale, Bishop’s Lodge is now a member of Auberge Resorts Collection thanks to a painstaking restoration, luxury appointments, commitment to personal service and wide range of exclusive activities.
