Designed to be a supportive experience for women of all ages, The Yin Way Retreat — The Way of a Woman is a new experience available to guests this year at Six Senses Kanuhura in the Maldives. It’s available Oct. 1 to 4 in the Maldives, and at Six Senses Kyoto in Japan Dec. 11 to 14.

Led by Six Senses Wellness director and Integrative Health expert Hati S. Malinova, these retreats embrace the Yin principles of rest, receptivity, reflection and cyclical living. Embracing practices drawn from Traditional Chinese Medicine, these retreats are intended to assist women in all stages of their lives, from pre-pregnancy to post-menopause.

“Women’s wellness has often been treated as a narrow conversation, focused on fertility and menopause, but it is much broader than that,” said Malinova. “Women are asking deeper questions about their health, often arriving at Six Senses when calm, sleep, and balance feel just out of reach. Brain fog can begin, and what follows is an overwhelming search for more information on cycles, perimenopause, fertility, fatigue and the broader impact on relationships.”

“Six Senses gives those questions somewhere better to go,” she added. “We wanted to connect those dots with care and intention, creating the space and rhythm for guests to awaken their senses, supported by clinical insight and personal consultation. The aim is to give women tools they can continue at home.”

Retreats are designed to accommodate small groups of women who will share meals, workshops and conversation. At Six Senses Kanuhura, the tropical setting is capitalized upon with daily yin yoga and sound-healing sessions. Stays in beach villas with private pools are augmented with personalized spa sessions; hormonal health workshops; a dolphin cruise; and visits to Alchemy Bar, where hormonal wellbeing is supported by bespoke blends of herbs and botanicals.

At Six Senses Kyoto, Eastern healing traditions meld with Japanese craft and contemplative rituals. These include seminars led by health experts, shared evening meals created to celebrate Japan’s micro seasons (known as “24 sekki”), hydrotherapy sessions and plenty of free time to become immersed in the temples and gardens of Kyoto. Guests will learn about kintsugi, a traditional Japanese art of restoring broken ceramics using urushi lacquer and gold powder; and the art of ikebana flower arranging. There are also opportunities for qigong and Daoist meditation, and time to enjoy specially prepared herbal teas.
