Running Feb. 24–March 26, Our Place in Space returns to Northern Ireland in County Down. This 3-D journey through our solar system sees a 10-kilometer trail span the scenic North Down Coastal Path before traversing through Crawfordsburn Country Park, ending in the seaside town of Bangor.

Featuring scale models of the sun and planets, Our Place in Space recreates these planets as contemporary art sculptures. Trail guardians positioned at the start of every interplanetary journey to offer information and equip trail-goers with a map. Paths are wheelchair-accessible and blend the best of North Down with ingenuity and immersive technology.

Our Place in Space has appeared in Derry and Belfast, Northern Ireland, as well as Cambridge and Liverpool, United Kingdom. At a scale of 591 million to one, the North Down installation offers visitors and locals one final chance to wander around the mini solar system along beautiful locations of County Down.

With an interactive AR app accompanying visitors, this journey starts at Ulster Transport Museum, in which guests walk a scaled-down version of our solar system. Ulster Transport Museum offers one of Europe’s most comprehensive transport collections, while Crawfordsburn Country Park boasts not one but two beautiful beaches. This area also provides great lookout points across Belfast Lough.

Recently named Northern Ireland’s newest city, Bangor is especially popular in winter as a seaside holiday town. Located less than 15 miles from Belfast city center, highlights of the city include Bangor Abbey, McKee Clock, Clandeboye Estate and Bangor Castle.

Our Place in Space is part of UNBOXED: Creativity, a brand blending art with science. Led by acclaimed artist and children’s author Oliver Jeffers, Jeffers and his team celebrate creativity across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
