Virgin Atlantic is doubling its flights between San Francisco (SFO) and London (LHR) by adding a second daily service, commencing Oct. 24.

Last year Virgin Atlantic announced it would add a second service from San Francisco to London five times a week for the summer season, starting on March 29. Due to its popularity, the airline will be extending the service and next winter it will be flying the route twice daily, seven days a week. The service is part of the airline’s joint venture with Delta, which offers up to 39 tran-Atlantic flights a day at peak. A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will service the new route.

“San Francisco is a key market for Virgin Atlantic in the U.S. and over the last 21 years we’re proud to have built a strong customer base there,” said Chris Rossi, SVP North America, Virgin Atlantic. “This second daily flight will enable us to do an even better job for our customers and we’re excited to bring our newest Virgin Atlantic experience to the market which includes WiFi connectivity and a brand new seat product.”

Virgin Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft are configured with 264 seats (31 Upper Class, 35 premium economy seats and 198 economy).
