United Airlines expands its United Economy meal preorder program to customers traveling on shorter flights, giving up to 65,000 more customers per day access to this benefit. The airline lowered the threshold for economy fresh food preorder from more than 1,190 miles to more than 900 miles on flights across the Caribbean and North America, opening the option to an additional 420 flights per day.

Passengers can visit the airline’s website or mobile app and choose from a wide range of fresh pastas, sandwiches, burgers and breakfasts rotating monthly. Current autumn 2026 selections include a pork mojo burrito, Chicago patty melt by Jeff Mauro of Mauro Provisions, hot honey chicken and waffle sandwich, and a cinnamon apple waffle, as well as United’s lineup of signature snack boxes and snacks.

Passengers can preorder both fresh Bistro on Board selections and other eligible retail items in advance on the app or website beginning five days and up to 24 hours before departure. To browse available options on the website, go to the Trips section, while app users will receive a notification when preordering opens for their flight.
