Daily

Forecasters predict the strongest El Niño since 1997/1998, and that means winter and ski destinations like Breckenridge, Colorado, are in for a strong and early start to winter … and the city is more than ready. This year, Breckenridge not only prepares for a powder-filled winter season, but also some new events, celebrations and even a couple MICHELIN recognitions.

Breckenridge Ski Resort Celebrates the Kingdom of Breck

This season, the ski resort embraces its non-conformist mountain heritage with the launch of The Kingdom of Breck. The experience begins Nov. 5 with Wake Up Breck and Nov. 6 with Opening Day, complete with a Welcome to Winter party at T-bar and giveaways. Founders Day on Dec. 16 is an all-day celebration at Peak 8’s Vista Haus and a community ski-down. Then, on Dec. 18–20, professional snowboarders compete on a slopestyle course alongside free live music. The Kingdom of Breck continues with the Outer Range Brewery 10th Anniversary Party on Jan. 16.

3 Restaurants Get MICHELIN Nod

James Beard Award-winning Chef Matt Vawter’s Rootstalk and Radicato were recognized in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Colorado. Radicato’s Chef Cameron Baker also took home the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Colorado Young Chef Award. New restaurant Forage prepares for its first winter season with each of its 12 dishes relating to the city’s old and new history. And coming this December, The Stable opens as a Western-inspired, walk-up window behind The Horseshoe, serving coffee, breakfast bowls and tater tot bowls.

All-New Events Come to Breckenridge

From Nov. 11 to 30, the new Breck Sky Fest celebrates the city receiving Colorado’s first certified Dark Sky resort town. Hosted by AstroTours, this festival features stargazing, daytime science, local partner activities and more. AstroTours also expands its Dark Sky Tour at Beaver Run, with a stargazing program featuring constellations, folklore, navigation and telescopes. On Dec. 5, more than 700 dogs parade down main street for the Holiday Dog Parade. Breckenridge also has an expanded winter holiday market this year.

Review: Caribe Royale Orlando

It’s truly its own universe: Caribe Royale Orlando is a sprawling property beckoning you forward with its coral pink exterior spanning many towers and buildings. The two-level lobby alone feels more like a community than a hotel lobby, with a Starbucks; access to the signature restaurant (in the midst of renovations), sports bar and gift shop; and a plethora of seating options. The bilevel layout also makes the entire space seem larger, opening up to the massive pool awaiting just behind the back doors.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.

The Flight Less Taken: Unsung Carriers Whisk You Away to Far-Flung Destinations

The miracle of flight feels slightly less miraculous these days. Endless delays, cramped seating and shortchanged amenities feel par for the course, and one can easily forget the wondrous fact that you’re hurtling above planet Earth, soaring above the clouds and across the skies to your destination of choice. In the olden days, you were limited to the fallibility of your outrigger canoe or horse-drawn carriage. It’s not hyperbolic to invoke the invention of the wheel when reminding oneself to stay calm and carry on in coach.
