Comparing 28 travel rewards programs, U.S. News & World Report released its list of the most beneficial for travelers. Coming out on top in the hotels category, Wyndham Rewards ranks best, giving away free nights at more than 7,800 properties. In the past year, the loyalty program added new benefits, including early check-in, free amenities and room upgrades. Tying for second place are Choice Privileges and Marriott Rewards. Best Western Rewards takes fourth place, with La Quinta Returns following last. Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is crowned the best airline rewards program, partly for rewarding points based on miles flown instead of dollars spent on airfare. In second place is JetBlue TrueBlue. Following are Southwest Rapid Rewards, Delta SkyMiles and Virgin America Elevate. “The best travel rewards programs make it easier for travelers to understand and select the right program for them. The top ranked programs offer travelers perks they care about, such as room upgrades, free checked bags and easy ways to accumulate miles and points,” said Erin Shields, travel editor, U.S. News & World Report.
