Top Spas in Taiwan

Soaking and relaxing in the steamy waters of therapeutic natural hot springs is a well-loved spa tradition in Taiwan. Visitors go deep into the natural beauty of Yangmingshan National Park to enjoy a soak in one of a collection of hot springs located not far from the Tatun Volcano Group. Each pool has a different temperature and unique mineral profile.

On Green Island, the Chaojih Hot Springs is blissfully free of that familiar hot spring sulfur scent, thanks to its rare saltwater content. Plus, your dip into the selection of seaside pools that come with gorgeous views.

The famed Water and Fire Cave at Zhentou Mountain is world-renowned for its distinctive water coloring and bizarre, beautiful flames — the result of naturally released gases from the mountainside that seem to hover just above the surface of the water. The ethereal soaking experience includes the therapeutic benefits of natural minerals.

Prefer a more traditional spa resort? Taiwan has those as well, many built adjacent to natural springs. Consider the Yitsun Hotel, built more than a century ago and located in the Beitou district near Taipei.

Another great choice is the new Aloft Taipei Beitou hotel, with 292 guestrooms and suites, a minimalist décor, meeting facilities and — in case Rover also needs a spa escape — a dog-friendly vibe.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
