Peter Sommer Travels invites you to uncover the story of the ancient civilizations that once reigned across Türkiye’s southwest coast on the all-new Turkish Odyssey cruise. This 15-day, intimate cruise (maximum of 14 guests per cruise) departs Sept. 15 and begins in Bodrum, taking guests through the Datça and Bozburun Peninsulas and into the Gulf of Fethiye before ending on Göcek.

Throughout the trip, guests visit hidden archaeological sites, a colorful market and traditional carpet maker, as well as enjoy wine, honey, olive oil and more. With plenty of time to also swim, snorkel, kayak and simply relax on deck, this immersive cruise encompasses a wide variety of activities and experiences for those eager to learn more about the region’s cultural and natural history.
Highlights include a lunch of classic Turkish dishes and viewing how Turkish carpets are made in Etrim; shopping in a market in Milas; touring vineyards and sampling a variety of vintages at two wineries, one in Bodrum and one on Datça; and learning about olive-oil production at a historic mill in the small village of Bayir.

Archaeological sites featured on the journey include a 4,000-year-old ancient city currently being excavated at Stratonikeia, terraces and temples overlooking the Aegean Sea in the Greek and Roman City of Knidos, and an underwater excavation of a 1,000-year-old shipwreck filled with delicate glass on the Serçe Limani inlet. Guests will also have the opportunity to drive among ancient pyramidal stones in the remote citadel of Phoenix and explore the walls and towers of the 2,300-year-old fortress of Loryma. Tombs cut into rocks, opulent public buildings, a theater, castle and antique church also await at Kaunos.
