The hotel enjoys an enviable location near many Madrid highlights, including Prado, Retiro Park and Plaza Mayor, as well as a new look. Ruiz Larrea Arquitectura restored the hotel’s façade to its original 1912 look, uncovering its warm beige contrasted terracotta and floral ornaments and garlands. Master glaziers Maumejean restored the hotel’s stained-glass and iron dome, which is made up of 1,875 panes of glass.
Indoors, Làzaro Rosa-Violán headed up the refresh of the 470 guestrooms and suites. Some design highlights include wool carpets, custom-made wooden boiserie, hand-painted wallpapers, mosaics, marble fireplaces, rich fabrics and more. Spanish designer Juanjo Oliva redesigned staff uniforms.
