Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport recently received a 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating from SkyTrax, an industry rating organization. This marks the world’s highest rating for customer experience within an airport terminal. The rating recognizes terminals that provide exceptional facilities and staff services to customers across all front-line areas of the airport environment.
Terminal A, measuring 1 million square feet, opened in January 2023, and sees 15 million annual customers through its spacious interiors with floor-to-ceiling windows, inspiring local public art features, locally inspired restaurants and small businesses from the surrounding area.
“We are honored to be recognized as a 5-Star Airport Terminal. This 5-Star rating places Newark Terminal A in a very exclusive club – one of only three 5-Star Airport facilities in North America,” said Michael Kunz, CEO, Munich Airport NJ LLC, the operator of Newark Terminal A. “I would like to express my sincere thanks for the tireless support of our MANJ family, and the thousands of dedicated team members who strive each day to make Newark Terminal A, a very special place to travel through.”
During SkyTrax’s three-day audit, its notable highlights of Terminal A included user-friendly wayfinding, dynamic TSA signage, top-notch facilities, attractive seating, ample charging options, innovative security screening, and local food and retail outlets. The Forest of Firsts boasts eight towering LED pillars honoring New Jersey’s innovative spirit, while the Digital Journey of Surprises throughout the terminal showcase the state’s people, landmarks and innovations.

Our first trip here for Cloud Camp — overlooking 14,000-foot Pikes Peak — was all at once romantic and rustic, evoking the essence of the Old West. Cozy log cabins perched high atop Cheyenne Mountain tuck into fragrant pines and rustling aspens, while the banquet table at the stone-and-timber main lodge invites some major tucking into.
