This September, respected conservationist and popular television personality Jeff Corwin (of Animal Planet shows The Jeff Corwin Experience and Corwin’s Quest) will accompany two Tanzania safaris organized by International Expeditions for portions of the journey. Departure dates are Sept. 7 and 10, and Corwin will join participants in the northern Serengeti region to accompany game drives and lead lectures. He’ll also join the safari groups for meals to allow for one-on-one discussions and to share his insight on the conservation of endangered species and natural resources.

Part of IE’s Master Leaders Series, each 13-day safari will involve exploration of wildlife areas including two areas of the Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro — home to rhino, lion, Cape buffalo, elephant and leopard, plus Africa’s lesser-known rhinoceros beetle, buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise and ant lion. Experiences will include game drives, starlight bush dinners, picnics on the Ngorongoro Crater floor and accommodations in boutique safari lodges. Other leaders during this year’s master series include wildlife advocates Joan Embery and Ron Magill; Alan Lieberman, who is a research fellow with the San Diego Zoo; and National Geographic editor and journalist Jonathan Tourtellot.
